How to Setup a World Border on your Minecraft Server

Setting up a world border in Minecraft helps manage and control the playable area on your server, enhancing the gaming experience by focusing on specific regions. A world border can also ensure that your server is making the most of pregeneration, if you have pregenerated your Minecraft world. If you would like to learn more about pregeneration, we have a wonderful article on How to Pregenerate your Minecraft Server.

Setup a World Border

  1. Navigate to the WabbaNode Control Panel and open your Console.
  2. Run the command /worldborder center <x> <z> replacing <x> and <z> with the coordinates for the center of the world border.
    • In most cases, you might use 0 for both values to have the border centered with the rest of your world.
  3. Run the command /worldborder set <size> 0, replacing <size> with the desired diameter of the world border in blocks.
    • Using a diameter of 10000 blocks would allow players to explore up to +5000, -5000 for example.
  4. If you would instead like to transition the border to increase/decrease over time, replace 0 above with a number in seconds.

By configuring a world border, you can create a designated area for players to explore, which helps maintain server performance and enhances the overall player experience.
